“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing – but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

The traditional view of growth in rural churches revolves around Sunday morning programming. We intentionally focus on having a production style meeting where interactions between people are reserved for before or after the service. While worship is important in a corporate setting, it doesn’t take long to observe that the spiritual growth of the congregation is slowed or even stifled by such gatherings when they are our only focus.

Take some time to think about the growth that you’ve had because of sermons. Go ahead and try to list out ten different sermons, the scripture used, the application of the scripture and the steps you took to grow. How many did you get to? My guess is a list that you can count on one hand. Now, think about ten people that have been in your life that have helped you grow in your faith. You might not remember five impactful sermons that have changed you but you could name more than 10 life-changing relationships. Without relational connection, the church isn’t the Church.

With that in mind, prayerfully consider becoming part of the Life Groups Ministry at DCC!
